Protest - Blackout on Wednesday the 18th January, 2012

The most popular and most visited websites on the Internet like Wikipedia, Reddit, Boing Boing, Mozilla Firefox, Wordpress, Twitpic and few others have decided to Blackout for a day to protest against the SOPA and PIPA bill being considered by the Congress. The bill however is currently on hold and the websites want to send Congress a message. Wikipedia has announced a complete blackout of the english version of the website and in some other versions like greek, users may see a protesting banner on the day of blackout. The Vocal Protest includes the Google, Twiiter, Facebook and Tumblr too.
What is SOPA and PIPA?

SOPA is Stop Online Piracy Act and PIP is Protect Internet Protocal Act. Both as the name suggests are against the illegal sharing of copyrighted content online.
A bill has been presented to reserve the right against the illegal sharing of copyrighted content like movies, videos and music which will ban each and every site involved and anyone or any site copying the copyrighted content more than 10 times in six months could get jailed for 5 years.
Reason why Google, Wikipedia and many Websites are Protesting SOPA, NDAA And PIPA

As SOPA and PIP are trying to protect the music and film industry rights, it seems like the media and industry is supporting them but the search engines and websites are against it as SOPA and PIPA's bill require the website being involved in illegal sharing of the content to be banned in a way that the whole site will be deleted from its domain, the search engines and also its access from DNS will be completely blocked too. Deleting each and every site involved from the search engines, just for the profit of film industry will cause the websites alot of work and loss in revenues and as we already know that government isn't the one paying these websites, and in case of Wikipedia which is the 6th most visited website, is not even involved in advertising but still is best at its work. Also, the websites believe that Internet is a law free community who doesn't have concerns with the profits of film industry.
The most visited websites involved in the Protest and Blackout are asking the users to support them in the protest against the bill. Are You With Them?
